pneame- The figures are looking into a section of the Llanberis slate quarries, called Mordor (actually it might be 'the lost world' area- I get the two mixed up). Either way, it is an impressively vast, man made hole in the ground.

I thought it was Snowdon/the pass in the background, but guess it was taken from the cave into California?

An opening in a tunnel that goes through into 'the lost world' from just above 'the khyber pass'. Well worth an explore.
