maybe even worth a 6

Beautiful. What settings did you use for this? The monastery buildings and chorten are well exposed. Is it by any chance an exposure blend?

Lovely image James, now spill the beans?!;-)

It was shot in RAW, ISO 400, f/3.2, 15s (the longest the camera does). I deliberately underexposed it about half a stop to preserve the highlight on the chorten, and readjusted the exposure in Photoshop. No layer mask or HDR. It really looked like that!
This was actually a test shot to meter for my film camera (with Velvia) but the slide was scanned badly and the star trail (6 mins exposure) was a bit distracting. I prefer this test shot.

Excelent James....again!

Stunning - it has a magical other-worldly atmosphere - well done!

Great photo, but it has me confused; what is the light on the mastery coming from? It looks like sunlight but obviously isn't.
Byronius Maximus - 11/Dec/11
The lighting was from an exterior lamp mounted on the upper building (I think). It wasn't very bright from my memory but the long exposure soaked it all in.

Utterly lovely. Does anyone else find the UKClimbing guide to Ama Dablam 'crag' footnote amusing? Some crag!

It looks like it's Lhotse on the left: Might be just a bit of Nuptse or Everest there on teh extreme left.

This is incredible. Enchanting. Do you sell prints? Please let me know if you can send one - I'd be interested in an a3.
