Indeed, on the 2nd exposure a really bright meteor burnt up. I've tried many times to catch a shooting star, this is my best yet.

Thanks Dan, inevitably using a very high ISO has led to a less than totally sharp image but the overall effect is very pleasing. I wish I knew the solution; a lower ISO and longer shutter would lead to star trails but that may be a better compromise, I'll try that next time.

I saw this photo at Kendal Mountain Film Fest in print form.In my opinion should have been the photo of the fetival.The photo which won could have been taken in a studio.This was taken in the midst of the greatest mountain on the planet. It got to be one of the all time greatest mountain night photos.
