Do you always take a tripod with or are some, like this, handheld?

When taking sunsets I always use a tripod but shots like this are handheld. More often than not they are only fleeting glimpses of sunshine or breaks in the cloud so you don't have time to set up a tripod. I have the camera setup with ND Grad filters in place and the camera is attached to a chest harness so it only takes a second to grab, frame and shoot maybe change a filter round etc. If it starts to rain, I pop a freezer bag over the top of the camera and carry on.

I meant to add, I take shots like this while out walking and not with the intention of taking a photograph so it's not a case of sitting down and waiting for the shot. If I was just waiting for the shot, I would use a tripod.... if you see what I mean.
