yeah nice shot

Great shot abd a 5. But why oh why oh why do we always have to "send" something or "crush" it... what happened to just "climbing" the bloody thing?!
jameshiggins - 28/Feb/11
Lovely! Another 5.
Mark Savage - 28/Feb/11
Thanks Mark.Few things I would change but not to worry, A dark day at back bowden requires many flashguns. Some low votes but good feedback from a snapper like yourself is praise indeed.Loved your pic of Chris at Cuddys.
in reply to James, we use crush in a jokey way, I think 'send' is an official bouldering term tho, as in 'send it duuude, you're a technician' ;-) Thanks for feedback guys.

It's "Highball" that annoys me the most. Why cant it just be "High"?
Nice picture.
simes303 - 07/Mar/11
Brethren, we have a wonderfully expressive language...why just 'climb' when you can crush, sketch, beast and destroy?
Andy Moles - 08/Mar/11
Awesome light.
Was it just 1 on-camera-ish, and out-of-shot-rhgt flash you used, or more than that?
pottsworth - 08/Mar/11
"You're a technician"! Love it. From Air Sweden on Return to Sender right? Great pic btw.
Dave Foster - 08/Mar/11
Thanks
in reply to Pottsworth, Ive had a few emails asking about the light set up, so instead of individually wording it all Ive drawn a diagram for anyone interested in such technical gubbins. To me the most important light is the one of to the left lifting the leg/left side out of the shadows.
anyways, ta for nice words and heres the science bit

great photo, nice lighting and a strong dude
chris fox - 10/Mar/11
looks really fake
Ontherocks - 13/Mar/11
ontherocks, maybe its because your not used to seeing climbing shots lit by multi off camera flash. There was next to no ambient light so a three flash set up was used to build the exposure, I can assure you its not fake and all I was trying to do was make a dull climbing day a little bit interesting.Whether you like it or not is up to you so fair play, be interested to hear more of your input though....

Thanks for sharing the background info on the lighting set-up used. For me, it's really interesting and has resulted in a great photo. (It'd be good to see others similarly describe the preparatory work done for those other great shots.)
