R you sure you didn't climb the descent and descend the climb? That looks desperately like friable rock and the line of the gully?

no I'm pretty sure we climbed the route - it was more solid than it looks there (the worried look on my face is more concern that my mate might drop my camera!) The 'gully' in the background is the pass between Five Fingers and the Sassolungo/Langkoffel - Toni Demetz hut is away to my left.
