The photo has been shortlisted for 'Landscape Photographer of the Year', but I am not that confident myself. 10 minutes after the picture was taken we were completely enveloped in thick mist.

Looks pretty awesome to me. Moving up to Edinburgh in September and looking forward to getting some of that action...

Love the scale of this, superb!

Excellent photos, Sean. B&W works really well, gives them a real timeless, Alpine quality.
David Dear - 27/Jul/10
Excellent I hope it snows like that next Feb.

Can we vote for it then, or is it judged by a panel. This is a stunning image, it embodies many things about why I make the drive north in Winter.

As far as I know, a group that includes Charlie Waite who first thought of the competition. Just so long as one of the others is not Jo Brand!

I've done some research and the list of Judges is detailed below:
Trevor Parr, of the Parr Joyce Partnership, a company sourcing landscape & conceptual imagery for poster & fine art use.
Robin Bernard & Martin Halfhide, Directors of Bayeux, one of London’s leading photographic and imaging companies.
Julie Chamberlain, Photographer, with over twenty years of stock agency experience.
Final judging panel:
Julia Bradbury, TV Presenter and President of CPRE in South Yorkshire
Charlie Waite, Landscape photographer and founder of the Take a view Awards
Jon Jones, Director of Photography, The Sunday Times Magazine
Damien Demolder, Editor, Amateur Photographer
Martin Evening, Photographer & writer
John Langley, Manager, National Theatre
David Watchus, AA Publishing
Nick White, Epson UK

I really like it, scale drama, everything.
It's odd though this LPOTY thing - the images of mine that have been shortlisted were not ones that I think were the strongest submitted - they perhaps had something a bit interesting or quirky about them though. Good luck with it!

Cracking photo Sean, very atmospheric in mono!

Fabulous shot, well done.

The photo that won last year was very peculiar. Taken from the Quirang, the horizon was not only not horizontal but also slightly curved. The Isle of Skye appeared to have an quite an alarming tilt as if slipping off the edge of a flattish earth!
David Dear - 10/Aug/10
I love this photo!
