Image cropped (about half)and selectively sharpened, no other modifications. To get the moon this big I used a 500mm telephoto lens on a 1.6 crop factor camera. The moon moves really fast when you try and photograph it, a degree every 4 minutes, so I had to work fast and keep moving the camera to keep it lined up with the climber 200m away.

How did you move the camera to follow the moon?
David Dear - 27/Apr/10
The camera was still when the pic was taken, but I had to run around like a madman trying to get it in a position where everything lined up. Once I found a position that worked, I had about a minute to set things up and get the shot before the moon moved out of frame.
