I really like how soft and delicate the snow appears to be. Great light and colour palette, too.

Hi Brian
Love the clarity and pin sharp details of your photos - just one little question - are they HDR (which I dont really understand) or have you just sharpened them a little, or is it good lens+ tripod? - whatever technique - deserved winners.
David Hooper - 09/Feb/10
Thanks for your comments David – this shot is not HDR nor did I use a tripod. It was a hand held shot with a 2 stop ND cokin grad (I use Lee now) the settings were 200iso, F11 at 1/125sec at 18mm. I pretty much always shoot in RAW so I can process myself. I do use HDR from time to time just depends on what I am shooting and the light. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I do use a tripod as much as I can just depends on how ‘fit ‘I am feeling !!

David - there is only 7 HDR shots in my gallery

This photo works so well because of the excellent composition, where you can trace a sinuious line that weaves it's way through the image. Truly beautiful!
