They're both great shots but this one has the edge as a composition, the problem seems to be higher quality and the rock nice enough to eat.

Thanks for the feedback. I have to say I'm new to all this photography stuff. Not really too sure about good compositions. Someone told me about the "third rule" and that seems to work.

Much better lighting & contrast in this photo, good climbing action with face visible,and nice rim of splash above the focus of the image. If I had one slight improvment to make it's to photoshop that mat!

Funny you say that. That's what they did with it in Climb mag this month. I personally like inclusion of the sky as it give more of a sense of open space.

I like this too. Don't agree with photoshopping out the mat you would need to be particularly skiled in PS for it to be effective. I would, however, straighten the horizon if you are to keep the sky.
