We had belayed at the top of the chimney so that Tom could lead the thin upper face with at least some protection. We were surprised the ice was as thin as it was, given this climbs apparent reliability.

It is reliable, reliabley thin normally. There's better build up for you to stand in the middle on the slab than at the start of the month. But yes, screws arn't much use.
