The Manchester Festival of Climbing at the Manchester Climbing Centre saw climbers competing to climb the highest, the fastest, and the hardest to win prizes and raise money for charity. The Five Stars Climb Everest Challenge saw 11 teams of climbers battle it out to climb the highest and equal the height of Everest, which was surpassed with a total height of 10,964.5m climbed. These teams were raising moeny for the Five Stars Scanner Appeal- a great cause aiming to raise £1 million for a vital scanner for the New Childrens Hospital in Manchester.

Alongside this event were Junior Bouldering, Dyno and Speed Climbing Competitions to put climbers to the test. These produced some impressive feats and fierce competition! The super hard 'Nemesis' problem was left undefeated, despite lots of attempts and the lure of a £100 cash prize...

The finale of the weekend was a lecture from the great Chris Sharma, who impressed with tales of climbing some of the world's hardest routes.
