Event sponsors Ordnance Survey and partners Mapland will be bringing one of the world's largest maps to Cliffhanger! It's a little on the large side to take on a bike ride with you, but enormous fun to walk around and spot your house or your favourite places.

Mapland England and Wales is a massive map with full topographical detail resulting in a stunning piece of art cartography. It has a total size of 13m x 11m (44ft x 36ft) making it the largest map of England and Wales in existence.

The map is fresh from an appearance at this year's The Ordnance Survery Outdoors Show at Birminagham NEC where it was one of the most popular attractions.

It is now less than a week until the massive event that takes place in Sheffield's Millhouses Park on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12. The main events for climbers are the British Bouldering Championships, the PlanetFear Dyno Competition (£1000 prize money up for grabs) and a new 'Alpkids' climbing comp for kids.

Cliffhanger is one of the UK's largest outdoor-pursuits festivals, based in one of Sheffield's biggest green spaces. It is the brainchild of Sheffield City Council's Parks & Countryside Department and has been developed to its current level with support from Heason Events.

Cliffhanger also features competitions and demonstrations in rock climbing, orienteering, kayaking, mountain biking, running, skateboarding, free running, adventure racing and more. There will also be scuba diving, angling, kite flying, assault courses, caving, a massive bargain area, music, plenty of children's rides and other activities, food stalls, a market and much, much more.

The activities are aimed at people of all ages. New attractions for this year include urban fell race, adventure race, bowling, archery, rollerskiing, skateboarding demonstrations and bouldering coaching.

Visitors are being encouraged to use their bikes to get to the event. There's a secure bike park and a great prize on offer simply by registering your details when you park your bike. There'll be a free prize draw for a pair of Hospitality Tickets for the prestigious Tour of Britain cycle race, courtesy of sponsors The Ordnance Survey. There's also a Park & Ride scheme operating from the Bannerdale Centre on Carter Knowle Road.
