Becky is an expedition leader and Mountain Instructor (the 40th woman to gain the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate) with a PhD in Glacial Geomorphology. She travels the world mountaineering, and has achieved numerous first ascents in very challenging environments – most notably Lasarmu La, a 6200m peak in the far west of Nepal, four first ascents in South Georgia, Antarctica, and two major first ascents in Wakhan Corridor, Afghanistan.

"I'm super excited about joining the Montane team. It's vital to me to have the right kit which can cope with the demands of my expeditions, where performance and reliability really does mean success or failure."
- Rebecca Coles

Becky is predominantly focussed on exploring the more obscure parts of the world and is currently indulging a passion for Central Asia's mountainous regions. Alongside this, she runs a blog, workshops, and seminars from her website www.allbutessentialtravel.co.uk to inspire people to travel independently and plan their own expeditions.

An alpinist and mountaineer foremost, Becky enjoys all manner of mountain activity. She splits her time in the UK between Sheffield (and the Peak district) and Snowdonia, spending winters working on the west coast of Scotland and pursuing one of her great loves – suffering Scottish winter climbing.

"We're delighted Becky has agreed to join team Montane. She has been at the forefront of British alpinism for a number of years and shares our passion of moving fast and light in the mountains. We look forward to working with Becky, using her wealth of experience on future product developments, and supporting her expeditions."
- Terry Stephenson. Head of Marketing, Montane
