What Are You Afraid OF? talks with Dave MacLeod

Dave MacLeod was a shy and fearful kid who hated sport, yet he went on to become one of the UK's most recognised professional rock climbers. In this talk, Dave will explore the ideas that defined his progress to making first ascents of some of the world’s hardest climbs, and reflect on the ideas from outside sport he's used to improve his own performance. Through his climbs on the Eiger North Face, Arctic Norway and of course Scotland, Dave explains conventional ideas from sports science he rejected as unimportant and arrives at his most important ingredients for completing hard projects in climbing.

8pm - 9:30pm

Ellis Brigham Store, Castlefield, Manchester Wednesday 10th February 7pm - 8.30pm

Uhohs - storing compass right next to your phone... I've seen 2 compasses become reverse polarized (180 degrees out) on the hill from exactly this. Great little video though with quite a few neat tips.

Randomly found this article on compasses reversing polarity from being stored next to mobile phones while searching forums for an unrelated topic: http://www.ukclimbing.com/articles/page.php?id=5385
