On Saturday 18th June the landlord of the popular Strands Inn and Brewery in Nether Wasdale plans to undertake a novel fundraising event that combines two of our favourite things, ale and fells.

Mark Corr will lug 36 pints of one of his own real ales up the Brown Tongue route to the roof of England, where he'll pull pints for passing walkers.

He'll be serving a tipple described as a 'light crisp ale with a long soft hop finish', a microbrew called Scafell Summit inspired by Terry Abraham's documentary Life of a Mountain: Scafell Pike.

Terry will be there in person, along with mountain guide David Powell-Thompson and local fellrunning legend Joss Naylor. Thirsty members of the public are also welcome to join them for a jar.

  • The event is to raise money for both Cancer Research and Wasdale Mountain Rescue, two charities close to Mark's heart. Donations can be made via JustGiving
