Police are appealing for information after three Landrovers used by Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were vandalised and effectively disabled. But the reaction on social media since the event has been 'overwhelming' according to the team.
The damage was done some time between mid day Monday 8th and mid day Tuesday 9th at the team base in Nant Peris. All the bolts securing both front and rear passenger doors were removed from two Landrover Discoveries – with one rear door being left on the floor. A door on a third vehicle was also forced open. The battery cables on all three vehicles were cut, immobilising them.
'We are now having to rely on neighbouring teams for vehicular support as we have been left in a position where we are unable to deploy team members or equipment' say the team.
However, it's not all bad. Since yesterday the story has had over 11,000 shares on the team's Facebook page.
'We have had an overwhelming level of support on Facebook since posting about the damage to our vehicles yesterday evening' they say.
