Halifax-based John Colton (see his UKC Gallery here) has an art exhibition in Courmayeur, Italy (the Italian side of Mont Blanc) this December.

John, who has written several articles for UKClimbing over the last few years, spent 10 days in Val Venney this June and was subsequently commissioned by the Club Alpino Italiano and the Mountain Guides of Courmayeur to mount an exhibition at their head quarters, opening on the 6th Dec.

John told UKClimbing:

"I had a show at the Alpine Club last autumn and it included work going back to 1973, some done in situ from routes like the Innominata and Walker Spur.

I've mostly kept myself fairly low-key as regards the climbing world, only recently submitting images and words."

John's paintings and his historical photographs make his UKC Gallery one of the most interesting on the site.

All at UKC would like to thank John for his submissions and wish him well for the exhibition - good luck John!

Not all of Jon's work is alpine - he has some brilliant paintings of UK crags and mountains too:
