Ask Your MP to Debate Outdoor Sport, Urges BMC

On Wednesday 10 September MPs will debate UK government policy on outdoor recreation. To make sure the matter gets the attention they feel it deserves the BMC are asking members to write to their MPs urging them to attend. There's still time, if you email.

The debate, secured by Ogmore MP Huw Irranca-Davies, gives parliamentarians a chance to highlight any concerns about how recent policies have been impacting the outdoor sector, and to sing the praises of any effective outdoor-related projects taking place in their own constituencies.

'The BMC and other organisations have been working with various MPs and peers to ensure these key proposals make their way to the policy teams working on each of the political party manifestos and we are delighted that this debate has been secured' they say.

'We want to see tangible measures to increase, improve, maximise and strengthen policies on outdoor recreation and the conservation of our countryside.'

'The BMC looks forward to hearing MPs discuss the government's position on outdoor recreation and would encourage all of our members to get in touch with their local MP to encourage them to attend the debate.'

'If you would like to help us campaign for political parties to develop an integrated package of measures that will further secure and enhance sustainable public access to our countryside and green spaces then please email or write to your local MP asking them to attend this debate.'
