Women With Altitude Meet in Ireland

Mountaineering Ireland (MI), the sport's governing body over there, is offering two places for MCofS members and two for BMC members on their upcoming Women With Altitude meet, 12-14 April.

MI's third annual Women With Altitude event takes place over three days in the Glendalough Valley, not far south of Dublin in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains. The area offers some brilliant hill walking, trad climbing and bouldering.

This welcoming and supportive meet is aimed at women who share a passion for the hills. Through a mixture of activities, workshops and talks, participants are encouraged to develop the skills and confidence to become more independent in the mountains. The 2013 event will have a particular focus on women in leadership roles, including leading within hillwalking clubs.

MI will cover registration, accommodation and meals for two female members from both the MCofS and the BMC; all you've got to do is get to Ireland. The meet is open to hill walkers and climbers of all abilities, and all ages from 18 up.

Interested BMC members should contact nick@thebmc.co.uk by Thursday 4th April 2013 with your BMC membership number and 50 words on why you would like to attend.

MCofS members should send their 50 word application to Kevin Howett; the two most interesting applications will be invited.
