As part of Mountaineering Ireland's (MI) project to produce a new SMC-style hillwalking guidebook to the whole country (reported here on UKH) the representative body for walkers and climbers is offering €1,000 in cash prizes in a competition to help source photographs of all 150-odd Irish peaks identified for inclusion, from Kerry to the Mournes.

But hurry - the deadline is 31 August.
First Prize is €200, while six runners up will get €100 and the eight next best photos will each net €25. Entrants whose pics make the final cut into the guidebook will also receive a copy
All relevant entries will be considered for inclusion in the guidebook.
There are no hard and fast criteria for entries, but MI say photographs should be between 1-5MB and must clearly identify one of the listed mountains or a feature of one of the mountains. An action photograph of someone on a ridge (for example), preferably with a substantial portion of the mountain, or neighbouring mountain in the background, would also be an appropriate entry they say.
The most frequently visited mountains are likely to attract the greatest number of entries, say MI, so in order to encourage photographs of the less popular mountains a weighting will be applied based on the number of entries received per mountain (e.g. if multiple entries are received for Croagh Patrick and only one for Slieve Snaght, the Slieve Snaght entry will get preferential consideration).
