A walker who disappeared in the Cairngorms in January is still missing. Grant Cunliffe's wife Linda has asked us to pass on a request for anyone visiting the area to keep an eye out.

Grant, 49, from North Yorkshire, is believed to have walked into Corrour Bothy in the Lairig Ghru on Wednesday 18 January, intending to go hillwalking for a couple of days before returning home. He did not return from his trip and was reported overdue on Saturday 21 January.

A major search was carried out at the time in the hills around Corrour bothy - Angel's Peak, Devil's Point, Cairn Toul and surrounding corries - but no trace was found. The recent return of winter conditions is hampering the ongoing effort to find him, and another search can't be mounted until there's been a thaw.

'The Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team have been thwarted with the recent snow fall, so the anguish goes on and on' says Linda. 'They said they have found all climbers who have been missing, but Grant is giving them a little trouble to say the least.'

'If you should be climbing around Devils Point, Angel's Peak, Cairn Toul and the Braeriach plateau please look out for him.'

'Thanks, and keep safe when climbing.'

Grant is believed to have been wearing a bright blue Haglofs windproof coat, black trousers and probably a black hat, and carrying a red and grey Deuter rucksack.

Anyone who finds any trace of him or his gear should contact Aviemore Police on 01479 810222.
