The four-day event runs from 18-21 May, and is open to everyone from novice hillwalkers to the more experienced.

'For many the festival offers an affordable opportunity to be supported by a guide on routes they would not consider on their own' says Festival Chair Jo Totty.

'It is an opportunity to meet like-minded people, discover a fascinating island and have unforgettable days in the safe hands of experienced local guides. With names to inspire the imagination, such as Ceum na Caillich (Witch's Step) Caisteal Abhail (Castles) and the Sleeping Warrior, the mountains of Arran are some of Scotland's most amazing landscapes.'

The festival programme of guided walks ranges from wildlife-watching coastal rambles to thrilling hillwalks and ridge scrambles. Headline walks include the Glen Sannox Horseshoe, Goatfell and the traverse of the A'Chir ridge, a Moderate-grade climbing adventure and one of the best routes of its type in the country. Evening events include talks and a pub quiz.

Although it's separate to the Festival the Goatfell Hill Race also takes place on Saturday 19 May. The course takes competitors on a 13km up-and-back trip from Brodick to the summit of Goatfell. A reporter from BBC Scotland's "The Adventure Show" will participate in this year's race, to be featured in a future edition of the programme.
