The day-long event should appeal to all walkers and climbers, and may be of particular interest to beginners. It aims to be a 'one stop shop' for information, advice and tips on how to get more enjoyment out of your passion for the mountains. Mountain Aid patron Cameron McNeish opens the event at 11.00 with a presentation of some of his recent films, and will be on hand to meet visitors, and sign books and DVDs.

The programme includes a range of presentations and workshops including navigation skills, map and compass, GPS, mountain weather forecasting, search and rescue, footwear, tents, rucksacks, clothing, mountain first aid, winter hill walking, avalanche information, and more. Meet Scotland's voluntary and membership organisations and find out how they work to represent your interests, protect the mountain environment and promote mountain safety.

Whilst the main theme is safety the event aims to be fun and interactive too. If you feel like being a guinea pig, two and four legged members of SARDA, the Search and Rescue Dog Association, will be looking for volunteers for a search demonstration.

In addition to Mountain Aid and the MCofS, organisations present will include local mountain rescue teams; the Mountain Weather Information Service (MWIS); Sportscotland Avalanche Information Service (SAIS); Glenmore Lodge; Ramblers Scotland; the Mountain Bothies Association; John Muir Trust; C-n-Do; Harvey Maps; Cicerone Press; and outdoor gear specialists Tiso, Nevisport and Cotswold Outdoor.
