Most crags to reopen for May Bank Hol

Since the end of April, the Government has started a "green light" system to reopen crags. As is being discussed in the Caff, Stanage will be open from Saturday - though only the area to the right (seen facing the crag) of High Neb. (And don't all go at once!) No dogs; and there may be birds nesting there, so be cautious. (There are rumours that peregrines have nested there again because it's been so quiet.) However the Burbage Valley will stay closed. Crags in Cornwall, Devon, Dartmoor and many other counties are also reopening, as the numbers of cases each day drops to a handful, rather than the dozens there were at the height of the foot-and-mouth epidemic.
You can get an update from the BMC FMD access database. Access in the Lakes is still patchy; phone ahead (try the council) to see what is available.
