WINNERS - Win 1 of 3 MSR Pocket Rocket 2 Mini Stove Kits Competition

© MSR

Since MSR® (Mountain Safety Research) introduced its first mountaineering stove in 1973, the creator of backcountry gear has offered quality and reliable products for cooking while outdoors. For 2018, MSR introduces the PocketRocket® 2 Mini Stove Kit, built specifically for ultralight minimalists attempting to go farther and faster with less on their backs.

The lightweight, compact, all-in-one PocketRocket 2 Mini Stove Kit offers just what you need and nothing more for a solo trip. The kit comes equipped with the new-for-2017 PocketRocket® 2 stove – which boils 1 liter of water in 3.5 minutes – a .75L hard-anodized aluminum pot , a cup/bowl, clear lid with port for straining, and an ultralight pot lifter. Sans nesting fuel canister, the kit weighs in at only 259g.

"Our cookware category was missing a true ultralight, compact cook kit for minimalists going on day trips, overnights, or fast-and-light missions," explained Owen Mesdag, category manager for cookware at MSR. "This new kit gives you everything an ultralight adventurer could ask for and it all packs into itself neatly, making it hard to not bring along on day hikes for emergency purposes or the luxury of a hot drink along the way."

The minimal components of the new stove kit are intelligently versatile, more user friendly than competitors' solutions (meaning no burned fingers or lips), and perfectly appropriate for what the ultralight minimalist needs. The new stove kit is available now in selected retailers.

To celebrate the launch MSR are giving three readers the chance to win a kit of their own. Simply answer the question below to enter.

Interesting decision to rest the cup under the pot. Surely it can get a bit dirty over the time?

My MSR Windburner's cup stacks the same way, but it's less exposed compared to this one.

I also do have a similar setup: Esbit Cookset 585 (- solid fuel burner) + Alpkit Kraku + Sea to Summit X-Mug. Comes to 258g. Slightly smaller volumes, though.

Love the design. I wonder how much you could do with a .75 pot in real life situations, but for light is right solo trips could be very cool.
