WINNER: Stroppy

Marmot in partnership with 3M is launching a new high performance synthetic insulation in AW17: Marmot Featherless.

It has been 2 years in development and is engineered with 3M Thinsulate Featherless insulation, specifically designed to imitate natural down.

If you didn't know otherwise you'd swear it was down!

It offers the equivalent warmth and weight of 700 fill power down, stays warm when wet, is ultra-lightweight and loved by geese and ducks everywhere!

Any environment. Any weather. Always warm

Light as a feather no longer applies. Marmot's Featherless Hoody helps redefine the phrase with its new revolutionary loose-fill 3M™ Thinsulate™ Featherless synthetic insulation. Lightweight, water-resistant warmth that matches the warmth of your traditional 700-fill-power down jacket.

Designed with versitiliy in mind the Featherless Hoody has simple cuffs, attached hood and a mobile underarm design. Conveniently stuffing into a side zippered pocket the Marmot Featherless Hoody will become your go-to winter warmer.

Could this be the magic material?
If this does everything it claims surly this is going to be a game changing material. The warmth/weight of down and it functions when wet?! I wonder what price this stuff will be? *prepares to stick car on gumtree* :)

Somewhere around £180 so similar in price to a comparable down jacket. Near identical weight/price to the Rab Microlight Alpine. Looks epic. Let's see if it stands the test of time. If the performance carries across multiple formats (sleeping bags, mats etc) then it could kill off down for good...

Isn't this the same 3M technology Rab have been marketing as Cirrus for at least two years? https://support.rab.equipment/hc/en-us/articles/115004381405-Glossary

I'm guessing it's a new variant (700 not 600 fill).
