WINNER: hdh74

An entirely new footwear concept, the Arakys combines all of the comfort features of a lightweight approach shoe with the inspired design of a technical rock climbing shoe.

Using its experience with hybrid construction, Arc´teryx delivers the first ultra-light approach shoe designed for both indoor and outdoor climbers. More than just an approach or scrambling shoe, the lightweight Arakys is a truly functional shoe for single pitch outings or camp life.

Featuring the latest construction technology called Adaptive Fit Lite, the Arakys softshell uppers combine layers of protection and support on a stretchable liner thanks to an exclusive lamination process. This allows reduction of overall weight and volume while maintaining a fully adaptive, sock-like fit in key areas of the shoe for perfect zonal fit, increased air permeability, and full debris protection.

A true cragging shoe, the Arakys also has a form-fitting collapsible heel that turns the shoe into a comfortable belay slipper. The unique one hand closure and memory buckle allows for fast, efficient shifts from climb to belay, and easy removal altogether. The leather footbed lends itself to sock-free, barefoot comfort.

To develop the specific tread pattern for the Arakys, ARC’TERYX designers worked in collaborationwith Vibram® to design soles suited to the specific needs of the shoe – flexible yet stable. The sole of the Arakys comes equipped with Vibram light approach with megagrip compound and features an integrated sticky rubber toe cap for increased grip. At less than a pound per pair the Arakys deliver maximized comfort, fit and grip for camp bouldering, approaches, scrambles and sport outings.

Hideous.

I can feel a parody video coming on... Close up shots of sweaty hands, the woman takes a slow breath, zoom in on her closing her eyes, she stretches her fingers... Black screen with caption- "Months of effort" "Hundreds of hours of hard work" "Comes down to this" She breathes out, opens her eyes and steps forward. Psyching herself up she reaches behind her and pulls out... Her credit card. Puts it in the machine, types her PIN and pays. ARC'TERYX Mind Blowingly Expensive
