Macer Gifford, a human rights activist and part of the Nightingale Squadron, is appealing to climbers and outdoor adventurers to donate spare rope to a collection point in Peterborough.

Gifford and his team are currently travelling across Ukraine providing medical training (TCCC) and Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs). He told UKC:

"There's a huge shortage of just about everything in country. The goodwill of thousands of Brits has plugged the gap in many areas, but short of donating money and food, a lot of people don't realise there are other ways to help."

The team is currently looking for rope in muted military colours. Gifford explained:

"Rope is very useful for many things, particularly casualty evacuation. Green and black colours are best. Nothing bright. If anyone has any spare rope, if they can donate it to the Ukrainian church in Peterborough and we'll get it to the Ukrainian military as soon as possible."

Send rope to:

Alla Irodenko

St Olga's Ukrainian church

67 New Rd,

Woodston

Peterborough

PE2 9HD

For those who are unable or unwilling to donate rope but still keen to help, a monetary donation can be made to Gifford's Fundrazr to crowdfund the formation of volunteer medical teams in Ukraine.
