We are pleased to announce that we are moving our server to one of UKFast's Carbon Neutral data centres in Manchester.
The new server has 4 times the amount of RAM available, which should increase the database performance, and almost double the total CPU compute power. The single-thread performance will be increased by 40%.
All the storage will now be on RAID 10 SSD drives instead of a combination of RAID 1 SAS and SSD drives. The performance gains from this will be less noticeable, but every little helps.
The switch is taking place at 9pm on Monday 12 October. Although we have tested the new set-up, there could be unanticipated problems, so please let us know if something changes for you. There will also be a lag in the changes in some places as the new address spreads around the world.

Cool!
Super cool as baenz!
I approve - good luck with the migration!
You only have one server? No redundancy?
UKC has been very stable in the past. It's not obvious to me that adding more servers would necessarily help.
