The clock is ticking on submissions to a nationwide photo competition run by the UK Association of National Park Authorities - but there's still time to enter.

It's an annual thing, and the theme this year is 'Actively Yours' - reflecting the fact that Britain's breathing spaces belong to everybody.

Submissions will be accepted until 6pm on April 26 and the winner will be announced on May 24. Judges, including TV chap Ben Fogle, are expecting to see photos of people getting active in one of Britain's 15 National Parks.

But whether it's skiing a gully on Snowdon or paragliding in the Peak the precise interpretation of 'active' is up to you.

UK Association of National Park Authorities chairman Carl Lis, who is also chairman of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, said:

'Free and open to all – that is one of the guiding principals of the UK's National Parks family.'

'We're hoping with this year's competition to see people putting that into action: showing themselves, their families or their friends enjoying the surprising diversity of landscapes that are found in the UK's National Parks.'

Entries must be submitted online here. Pictures should feature a person or persons taking part in an activity within the bounds of a UK National Park. The winner gets a pair of Merrel shoes of their choice.

The competition is part of a series of events culminating in National Parks Week (July 29 to August 4).
