This is a brand new event for 2012, the first of a three-part Lake District Trail Running series in partnership with the National Trust, and also part of the Salomon UK Trail Tour.

'The route is based in one of the iconic areas of the Lake District, surrounded by a backdrop of mountains and waterfalls' organiser Ian Mulvey of High Terrain Events tells us. 'The scenery is spectacular with every step of the way. We are organising the event in partnership with the National Trust with the aim of highlighting these beautiful areas and the vital conservation work they carry out.'

The course is a 10-mile low level route around the shores of Buttermere and Crummock water, with a variety of off-road terrain. Organisers say it's suitable for all abilities, whether you are new to trail running or a seasoned athlete.
