The MCofS have hailed Scotland's Mountain Safety Day on Saturday 8 October a great success after more than 700 people attended.
These impressive numbers may have been given a boost by the diabolical weekend weather - though of course the chance to pick up hill skills and attend workshops for free must have helped too.
David Gibson, Chief Officer at the MCofS, said:
'I want to say a big thank you to everyone who made Scotland's Mountain Safety Day on Saturday such a success, especially those dedicated volunteers from Mountain Aid – without their hard work it just wouldn't have happened. Thanks also to the presenters, mountain rescue teams, retailers and other organisations that made the event so memorable. It was great to see so many people at the event - more than 700 people were there on the day. MCofS staff and volunteers enjoyed meeting old and new members and we hope everyone had a great time. Here's looking forward to the next Mountain Safety Day!'
