Challenge Cancer through Adventure

A new charity has been set up by Peak-based climbers. We are all probably aware that 1 in 4 people will get cancer at some point in their life. It strikes people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Challenge Cancer through Adventure was established by a group of climbers living in the Peak, seven of who have or have had cancer.

Through their adventure based fundraising, which has been supported by other local climbers, runners and outdoor enthusiasts, they aimed to raise £50,000 to establish a fund to support other people diagnosed with cancer or a terminal illness to 'live their dream'. In their first year they have raised over £20,000. Through their personal achievements and philosophy they hope to inspire other people effected by cancer to remain positive and active.

Their next fund raising event 'The Derwent Dambuster Challenge' a 10 mile run around the Derwent Dams takes place on May 20th

I hope they dont scare the Goshawks.

I'm sure they'll do far less harm to the goshawks than the act of publicly announcing their presence. The only danger to the goshawks is and always has been intentional nest and egg stealing.
