Nepal plane crash kills 18

A small Shangrila airlines aircraft en route from Jomsom to Pokhara crashed after disappearing from radar screens 20 minutes from its destination.

The dead include 13 Germans, one Briton and one US citizen, as well as three Nepalese crew.

Nepal and neighbouring countries have experienced torrential monsoon rains over the last two months, resulting in a number of landslides and devastating flooding. Officials say that bad weather may have been a factor in the crash.

Pokhara is close to the popular trekking region around Annapurna.
