The German girl was with her 39-year-old father climbing the 1,500-metre Wilder Kaiser mountain in Tyrol when he fell.
She managed to reach him, tied him securely to an outcrop of rock, so he wouldn't fall further, and then abseiled down to a safer point and started shouting for help.
Her calls were heard by a climber who raised the alarm. The injured man was taken to hospital in Innsbruck.
Makes it seem like that self-rescue course for children is worthwhile, doesn't it?
