Les Brown was a prolific Lake District pioneer from 1959 to 1965. Always trying to stay ahead of the competition, he told rivals whilst prospecting what became The Nazgul that he was exploring Far East Buzzard Crag!
The routes in this ticklist are from the series of Fell and Rock guidebooks of my youth, which Chris Holden and I used as our bible. The guidebooks pre-date star quality ratings but had the following statement in the introduction: "Visitors new to the district may find a list of recommended routes useful."
Five of Les' routes were on those lists and two were included in Hard Rock.
