Detailed description

SE4733097342 After an easy start, a stiff climb up to CP #1, water

SE4884299631 Marshall, then a quick descent on a good track down through the woods

NZ4817800786 Start of out & back section. Immediately before the road there is a ford across the stream, with a footbridge option for those who don't want to get their feet wet!

Terrain:
A real mixture of dirt paths, good forestry tracks, grassy fields, flagstones and some tarmac. Steep in places, especially the ascent to CP #6

Seasonal variations:
Much of the route is high and exposed to bad weather. Snow is likely in the Winter, but generally the paths should be fine all year around. Some very muddy sections after rain, but no deep bogs

Public transport:
One bus per hour Mon-Sat, and a very limited service Sundays. Nearest train station is Northallerton. See http://getdown.org.uk/bus/search/osmotherley.shtml
