Ughill Moor and Boots Folly - Family Walk Trail runningWalking

This nice short walk is a great way to escape the crowds being close to Sheffield but away from the usual honeypots. It starts high then drops down towards Strines before coming back past the Boots Folly on Sugworth Edge.

SK2314989956 Take a little detour across the field to the square tower of Boots Folly (aka Sugworth Tower or Strines Tower). Built in 1927 by Charles Boot, the son of Henry Boot who set up Henry Boot & Sons in 1886. It is unclear whether it was built to keep workers busy during the depression, or so that Charles could see the churchyard in High Bradfield where his wife was buried. The internal staircase has now disappeared.
