Abney Moor - Away from the Crowds in the Peak District Trail runningWalking

This beautiful quiet walk loops around the relatively unknown Abney Moor on the south side of the Hope Valley. The views from the top are amazing, taking in all the Castleton hills from Mam Tor to Lose Hill, then Win Hill and Stanage right around to Owler Tor. The route starts in the delightfully named village of Shatton - a place you have probably only ever driven past before - and heads up onto the moor via a good track. Once on the moor, the initial section takes you around the back of the actual summit, before you cross back and are treated to the stunning aforementioned views. Dropping down from here leads you back past some big houses to the starting point in Shatton.
