Saughy Hill and Usway Burn Trail runningWalking

This is a beautiful and remote circular walk around the exposed Saughy Hill and then back along the deeply-incised Usway Burn valley, in the rolling hills of Upper Coquetdale. You'll rarely see crowds anywhere in the Cheviots, and this area is no exception.

2
NT8939410047 The going over the moor is easy until the track goes left up to the summit of Saughy Hill. This makes an easy side tick but the main path is below although a lot less defined that the earlier sections. It is possible to go freeform here and descend Saughy Hill in a WSW direction although it can get boggy.

3
NT8937510970 Follow a big forestry track for 500m to a gate where a very vague track breaks eastwards across the moor.

4
NT8805810690 The path leads gently down a beautiful rib as it drops down towards the Usway Burn valley, with the magnificent Shillhope Law direct ahead.

5
NT8839109366 Skirt round the small dwelling to gain the valley track which leads easily back to the start.
