The Wannenstöcklli is most easily reached from the north via a short gully / chimney between the east and west summits, approaching finally from the east. A few moves of grade 1 scrambling lead to the col between them, while the exquisite overhanging crack on the left wall of the gully leads, in all probability, nowhere, hard. The east summit is a short walk away, while to reach the west summit one must tip-toe a few meters across the narrowing of the col, and negotiate the steep wall of rock and grass on the left, five meters of exposed grade 2. The given SAC grade of T3 underestimates the difficulty, in the opinion of the moderator (rather T4). The direct approach and the weakness on the right are really not at all recommended, in the opinion of the moderator.
Alternatively pt.1822 to the west can be reached easily from the north or south, and the grassy ridge followed to the west summit (T2), but this neccessitates locating and tackling the steep wall west of the col in descent. The grassy east ridge is harder, T4.
On recent maps named as the Wannenstock, to create maximum confusion with the so-named peak 6.5 km to the east.
Ascents from the north from the southern end of the Wägitalersee, several parking spots. Ascents from the south from Richisau.
