Hill features

Often overlooked in favour of its more famous neighbours, this peak is often climbed by its south-east ridge in approach to the classic Clach Glas - Bla Bheinn traverse. By adopting this as a means of approach, the bog and scree of Coire a' Chaise can be rounded.

Geologically, the summit and both flanks west of the 623m top are largely composed of gabbro, whereas the east flank and south-east ridge are a complex of gritstones, shale, granite and basalt.

Summit of this hill

This summit has been climbed in 19 logbooks.

Approach notes

Take the Bla Bheinn path which follows the Allt na Dunaiche at the head of Loch Slapin. For the Bealach Buttresses, leave the path as it bears left and branch off into Coire a' Chaise. The buttresses are obvious between two scree shutes in the col to the right of Clach Glas, and left of the summit of Sgurr nan Each. To make the summit traverse, leave the path at the same point and head left to the obvious nose and ridge of Sgurr nan Each, which forms the north wall of the coire.
