This summit is listed in Marilyns, Wainwrights, Nuttalls, Hewitts, Trail 100, The North Western Fells of Cumbria, England's Furth Munros, Corbetts & Grahams., England's 2000ers, Lakeland 50 High Fells, England's Top 50, Lakeland 100, England 40 most prominent peaks hill lists.
This summit has been climbed in 432 logbooks. When seen from Low Fell or Darling Fell above Loweswater, the west or north west face of Grasmoor is surprisingly vaguely reminiscent of the Eiger's nordwand. It is therefore impressive that while this mountain subsequently does not offer much in the form of pure rock climbing beyond Dove Crags (NE face), it does offer a classic scramble (Lorton Gully) to negotiate its impressive western flank. Grasmoor itself is one of the finest mountains in the lakes: the views from its summit unfurl Great Gable and the north face of Sca Fell like some mighty patchwork of Lakeland beauty, while Crummock water lies invitingly at it's foot, those looking for a satisfying scramble with a magnificent climax will not be disappointed.
Plenty of free parking at its foot in Crummockdale.
