Adders are frequently seen around Curbar. They are often very well camoflaged so it's worth keeping an eye out when moving into new areas, picking up kit etc as a bite, although not life threatening to most healthy adults can still be nasty.

Ticks are abundant due to a large population of red deer. take care, particularly if passing through bracken below the crag.

15m.

Rockfax Description
The centre of the steep slab is a Curbar testpiece, being both technical and bold. Climb directly to the runner slot on One Step Beyond then continue up the sustained thin crack above. A microwire is useful in the crack but it is hard to place. © Rockfax

βeta: This gear beta is nonsense. You can get bomber gear in the pocket shared with OSB. There’s a good RP1 before the crux (the pocket gear would stop you hitting the ground anyway if it snapped). There’s another couple of RPs before the final move (probably too high for the pocket gear to save you here so these need to go in good).

βeta: The low runner slot as above is getting worn, when a friend of mine did the route there was actually a sall flake of rock stuck in the slot. You can also protect the lower section before the slot with some poor sky hooks.

βeta: The low runner slot is getting quite badly worn - worth checking out. Also it might be possible to get one of the new small zero friends in the finishing crack where a rock'n roller? went.
