Petit Ption is one St Lucia's most iconic landmarks. The main route of ascent is a scramble through steep jungle terrain. Difficulties are concentrated in the top half, with 3 or 4 sections of Grade 2/3 scrambling.
Time: 2 hours up, 2 hours down.
Fixed ropes can be useful depending on their condition(!). Guiding is recommended as much for access, routing finding and local knowldge as for technical assistance. A guide can be hired from the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation office.

Restricted Access
Ascending without a guide is locally discouraged. A fee of $5 per person is payable at a hut at the start of the route.
