Crag features
Yellowslacks has a long and colourful history. It has never really been a forcing ground for moorland climbing in the same vein as Laddow, but it's had its moments. Perhaps the most famous of those was when the farmer decided he'd had enough of climbers. He carted a load of dynamite up to the crag and demolished a section of it.
The crag gets morning and early afternoon sun. It is rough, occasionally a little gritty, but sound. Quick drying as it takes no seepage. A steep slope bellow the edge means it can feel more exposed and you need to watch your kit doesn't roll down the hill!
Approach notes
From the parking on Hope street, follow the bridleway. After a mile, a gate and stile is reached. Take the path up the steep shoulder of moorland to the left, then follow the well-worn route along the edge of the moor for about a mile.
