This major landmark is made of surprisingly solid Permian conglomerate. The solitary climb is only hard for the first couple of moves and therefore makes a reasonable solo.
Take the southernmost of the two roads leading to the coast from South Milton, which is signposted off the A381 to Salcombe. From the large National Trust car park it is a short walk over the beach and wave-cut platform.
