Cafrlingford Lough and The Mountains of Mourne from Slieve Foye © Punter S Thompson
Quite a rugged landscape. A mountain literally littered with dirty rocky crags along with scattered boulders ranging from 5m to 15m in possible climbing height. Sharp gritty granite, watch for chossy material lying dormant on all the ancient rock that is available is here. Loose rocks will be found frequently too. Grassy Heather bog terrain links all the dry rock together.
Can also be approached from the slieve Foye car park on the North East facing side of the mountain along the road between omeath and carlingford there is a turn off that will will take you up through a woodland where there is camping space, continuing up the road will take you to a car park a third of the way up the mountain slope, from there you can walk strenuously upward finding the line of least resistance through the rugged terrain until you reach the rocky crags that litter the top of the mountain. There are set times when that car park will be open and closed
