Rockfax Description
High on Scafell Pinnacle lurks the eponymous feature that is the key to reaching the summit of Low Man. From here you continue to the summit of High Man along The Knife-Edge Arete, then descend to the Jordan Gap and up onto the mainland. Start by scrambling up Steep Gill from the base of The Pinnacle to a point where it rears up at a narrow chimney.
1) 30m. Move rightwards out across the right wall of the gully on easy ledges, walls and slabs to meet 'The Crevasse'. Cross this and belay on the slab below the chimney.
2) 31m. Though short, the overhanging chimney is a bit of a struggle and by far the hardest section of the climb. Once above the chimney (possible belay), easy climbing up the corner and then right gains the summit of Low Man.
Descent - Tackle The Knife-Edge Arete then descend as per instructions opposite. © Rockfax
